At Peace by Kristen Ashley

Violet Winters had a great life, a wonderful loving husband and two beautiful daughters. She had the life she always wanted until in the blink of an eye it was all taken away from her. Her husband was murdered. Trying to pick up the pieces of her life she moves her daughters to the Burg to start over. Everything was going smooth, she started a new job and the kids had settled in, everything was great until one night her neighbor, who she has never met and is never home, decided to play his music at maximum volume all night long. Having enough, Violet storms next door to demand that the music be turned down.

Joe Callahan has his own heart breaking past, a past that he tries everyday not to think about. He runs his own security business and works out of town most of the time, so when he came home and found a crazy woman that he told to leave him alone, in his house he is beyond furious. After kicking her out literally on her butt he realizes that his new neighbor is standing in his living room in her nightgown and he really likes what he sees. Joe is not a relationship kind of guy he is a wham-bam-thank you-ma'am kind of guy. He knows that he shouldn't get involved with Violet but he has to have her. Violet knows exactly what kind of man Cal is but she takes a chance anyway knowing she may end up getting hurt. They have an arrangement, when he is home they hook up, just casual, but Violet realizes her feelings for him are more. Cal shuts her down quick, he doesn't need that in his life.

Cal doesn't want that type of relationship but he doesn't want anyone else getting Violet's attention. Out of the blue, the man who murdered Violets husband has surfaced and turned his attention on Violet. Cal is determined to keep her and both her girls safe but Violet has had enough of him. He broke her heart and she doesn't know if she can trust him again.
